old post: investment in awesomeness

Where have I been? No where in particular, just not updating. There's so much happening or coming up, December becomes a total blur. The car has been fixed up and cleared for the road trip - YEA! This was a bit of a scary hurdle. You never know what lurks under the hood.

We hung out with Brandon and Dallas and two of their friends on Saturday. We ate, talked, drank beer and played a word game. The game reminded me of the license plate game. You picked a 5-6 letter word, wrote it vertically on the left of a piece of paper. Then you reversed the letters and wrote them vertically on the right side. The game part was figuring out the longest words you could that began with the letter on the left and ended with the letter on the right. You got a point for each letter unless someone else came up with the same word as you, then you both got bubkiss. There were like two or three minutes to fill in the blanks. Here's how it looked
A ______ E
R ______ N
C ______ A
A ______ C
N ______ R
E ______ A
It was hard but fun and silly. Shannon kicked ass and won by an obscene margin. Often my spaces were filled with the only word I could think of like 'soot' or 'trail' because my mind just blanked as the timer ticked down.

I've got to get myself together for holiday cards. I've got a few items on knitting needles at the moment, one the present my mother commissioned for herself. She probably wants that soon.

Having Shannon back last week was awesome. I like remembering how different the house feels with her in it, how nice sharing the pet duties are, and how much fun it is to make coffee and pancakes for someone. Or how nice it is to be surprised when your girl is home early and is sitting on the couch with the pups when you come walking in.
